Shaun Cassidy

I admit it, I was a teeny-bopper once. I blame The Monkees and this blonde fella in the video below. I probably drove my older brother crazy playing such music at top volumes in my room. I also drove my brother nuts playing “My Sharona” but that’s another story.

The video is an old B&W clip from the Goldie Hawn show where Shaun sings “Do You Believe in Magic.” The sound quality is terrible but it’s a blast from the past.

If only our necks were that flexible.
Another crop-instance of the little things you may notice within an otherwise trash-bin shot.

Its vs. It’s

It used to bug me when I saw people using “its” when they should have been using “it’s”, and vice versa. I find, however, that the older I become and the less writing I do - and the more any writing is typed during severe mental “auto-pilot” - the more I myself tend to mix them up.

It’s not because I don’t know the difference between the usage - it’s because I’m not thinking. My fingers have no actual brain, see, so on auto-pilot my fingers seem to go on the assumption that since the first time I typed a word I used an apostrophe, that means every time I write that same word, it should have an apostrophe. Mental auto-pilot causes more typing/grammar/spelling errors than anything else.

That, and the whole internet “LOL” culture.

House hunters

House hunters
That’s who we are.
House hunters
Looking from afar.

Without going into a long, wordy rant, I’ll just sum up: California real estate sucks. Income required for loan approval vs. home prices on even tiny ratty houses = frustration. I’m sure it sucks elsewhere too, but California is where I live, so that’s my personal mantra. Oh and short-sales suck, even from the buyers point of view.
The only bright side is that prices and interest rates are still falling, which means we can consider slightly better houses as time goes on. We looked at a lot of houses yesterday - and a couple days ago too - some were actually fair enough for us and our needs, in a somewhat better area than some others we’ve been looking in. ie, these neighborhoods don’t make my husband think about buying guns to put in a drawer in every room. But they cost more, and are they better enough to pull out of another bid, that is the question.

I don’t write too many bloggity-blogs anymore, but it’s a fair bet that when I do, real estate will be one of the more frequent topics for a while.
